GREETINGS FROM JEFFREY’S BAY

Rob’s review

This has been a challenging year! Starting with extreme frustration at the slowness of the approval process, to the elation of finally – after 42 months of handing in the application – to finally get our approvals – only to have the world recession put a cloud of uncertainty on the timing of the construction program implementation, which has precipitated the property being farmed to its potential again – only to have the extreme drought put a damper on the joy of working the land.

It certainly has been a faith extending year! But the Word of God says that if He is for you, who can be SUCCESSFUL against you. Next year will bring a fresh season, abundant rains, resurgent economy backed by the soccer and the start of construction which will release the potential for each investor who has had the Jubilee dream!

Construction program

Rob’s review

There is a lot of positive sentiment going around the world at this time that is “talking” the end of the recession, and expecting the start of positive growth around the globe. The Directors of Jubilee Lakes are taking a conservative view and will make a decision very early in the New Year as to the timing of the construction program – at this stage to be expected around mid year.

FIFA World Cup 2010

FIFA World Cup 2010

An extract from the website “SA the good news” on 19 November 2009 (www.sagoodnews.co.za)

In a symbolic flag-raising ceremony at its SAFA House headquarters in Johannesburg on today, the flags of all 32 participating teams were raised in celebration and to mark a major moment in African sporting history.

The Ambassadors and embassy representatives of the 32 countries raised their flags outside SAFA House, metres from the Soccer City stadium at which the tournament's opening match and final will be played on 11 June 2010 and 11 July 2010 next year.

"We congratulate all the teams that have now qualified for the 2010 Fifa World Cup. For us this is a very emotional day. After all the years of hard work that have gone into preparing for this momentous event, it is now a tangible reality," said 2010 World Cup organising committing CEO Danny Jordaan.

"The finalisation of the 32 participating countries is a major milestone and we would like to warmly welcome all of them to Africa's first World Cup. Our country and our continent cannot wait to receive the players and their multitudes of fans who will descend on South Africa next year for what is sure to be an unforgettable event."

Jordaan expressed delight at the calibre of teams that have qualified for South Africa 2010, which is set to showcase the world's best footballers in state-of-the-art, modern stadiums.

"All the major countries in world football have qualified for the tournament, as well as a number of countries that are very capable of causing major upsets. We're particularly delighted that the giants of African football - Cameroon, Nigeria, Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire and Algeria - join hosts South Africa in what is a formidable line-up of African participants."

The final line-up of the countries who have qualified for the 2010 Fifa World Cup is: Nigeria, Cameroon, New Zealand, Japan, Netherlands, Korea Republic, Korea DPR, Australia, USA, Brazil, Ghana, England, Paraguay, Spain, Denmark, Cote d'Ivoire, Chile, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Serbia, Switzerland, Argentina, Honduras, Slovakia, Algeria, Portugal, France, Slovenia, Greece, Uruguay and hosts South Africa.”

In addition to the 6 group matches and round of 16 matches being played at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, Port Elizabeth will also be hosting a quarter final as well as a 3/4 place final....exciting!!!

Two new residents of Jubilee Lakes

Buck Jubilee Lakes

Rob’s review

“Bakkies”, the springbuck is the latest addition to the family and has been resident at Jubilee for 3 months now. He was rescued after a game capture exercise in the Karoo – and brought back to Jubilee

“We didn't know into which camp the mother landed up and of course, which of the mother ewes belonged to this young springbuck” says Rob. So “Bakkies”, came to live at Jubilee with his foster family – the Birches!

They feed him 3 bottles of milk per day and he is now old enough to eat grass too. “Bakkies”, is often found wondering around the Birch household feeling totally at home!

Rob’s review

“Komanchie” was also born in August and has become part of the family. This little male ”boerperd” can be seen close to his mom at all times and is growing by the day!

Jubilee and the department of Labour

Rob’s review

In response to the need for skilled labour in the Kouga area, the Centre of Excellence (Victory Christian Church) was started in September of this year. In partnership with Eastern Cape training Centre, the Department of Labour and Skills Group Jeffreys Bay, the Centre of Excellence was launched as a training initiative to train 70 unskilled workers to become a skilled and effective civil labour force.

The training includes drain laying, pipe laying, road construction, casting foundations and basic building work.

This initiative was undertaken to provide an opportunity for a group of unskilled labourers to become a skilled labour force. This labour force will be utilised at Jubilee Lakes when civil works commence. The emphasis of this project is to empower local labourers through training to be used in this local development. The labour force will be employed from the first phase of Jubilee Lakes in areas of basic civil works and construction of basic services for the residential erven.
